week three in the double walla

Time moves quickly while here at school.  My third week here is about to start. There have been two weeks of sorting through new faces to find the familiar, figuring out who to sit with in class, trying desperately to remember how to be a student, and trying to balance all the demands on my time.

It is a bit like jumping on to a moving treadmill. One minute I am at home, and in the next moment, I am attending General Physics at eight thirty in the morning. There are moments when I am still overwhelmed: rusty trombone skills, faltering memory of science classes, meeting new people in waves. I know it will get better. I think it will.

I do miss how simple life was in Thailand. I miss being master of my own destiny. I miss eating cheap, delicious street food.

However, I don't miss not living well. All that is left is to figure out how to do so here and now.

Today was a full day: pumpkin carving, card games, a diner luncheon, bike rides, sore legs, and delicious soup. Tomorrow promises a day packed with studies. Must sleep.
